Special memories can be attached to us in so many ways. The smell of tamales brings me back to the first time I met my extended family in Texas. Driving past Victory Park makes me think of when I had my very first kiss. Listening to My American Heart reminds me of the epiphany I had when I decided to move back to Florida. Certain articles of clothing can also correlate with specific special memories. Such is the case with the cover up that I’m wearing in todays post.
I purchased my cover up in Savannah, GA while on a bachelorette weekend getaway. Despite the fact the bachelorette of that trip & I are no longer in each others lives, it was still a great trip & I have a lot of really good memories from it. My wedding, & thus honeymoon was only a few months after the Savannah bachelorette trip, so I bought the cover up with the intention of wearing it for the first time on mine & Lorenzo’s Hawaii Honeymoon. So to the back of my closet it went for a few months.
Our Hawaii honeymoon finally arrived. Off to Kauai & Maui we went. The first time I wore this cover up was at Hideaway Beach in Princeville, Kauai. It’s one of my favorite beaches, actually it’s one of my favorite places period that I’ve ever been. Hideaway Beach is a very small beach that has a fun little trail to get to it. It’s a bit of a “secret” spot, kind of tricky to find, & so it’s not overrun with tourists. In fact, for most of our time there, it was just the two of us – so romantic! And at the busiest – only four other people.
The most recent time I wore this cover up, aka the day that these photos are from was on Lorenzo’s 30th Birthday trip to Mexico. There’s a semi-secretive beach just beyond a very popular beach in Puerto Vallarta. The beach is called Las Amapas & like Hideaway Beach in Hawaii, it takes a fun little trail to get to. This beach was covered with colorful rocks, beautiful views, & not another tourist in sight. When we first arrived there were a few locals, however most of the time it was like our own private little beach. (I’ll be sharing more beach photos & info in next weeks travel guide to Puerto Vallarta.)
I love this cover up because it’s such a lovely piece. I love the crochet, angles, color, fit, etc. But what I really love now is that it’s forever attached to some of my most favorite memories of my entire life.
