One of the greatest parts of traveling? The food, of course! Today I’m sharing some of the delicious restaurants in the Hollywood / Ft. Lauderdale, FL area…
MAI-KAI RESTURANT – FT. LAUDERDALE, FL:
I talked about the entertainment that Mai-Kai has to offer in my “Where To Go And What To Do in Hollywood, FL” post , now I will talk about the food. This was my second time at Mai-Kai & after a wonderful first experience, I had high standards for this one. You’ll find a “vegetarian” section on their dinner menu. All of the vegetarian selections are, or can easily be made, vegan. They have an extensive tropical drink menu with both alcoholic & non-alcoholic offerings (vegans be sure to say “no honey” as many of the otherwise vegan drinks do contain honey). This was another successful visit. The food was absolutely delicious, the décor- absolutely stunning & the entertainment- second to none. The price range at Mai-Kai is $30-$50 (not including the $15/per person showcharge). Parking is valet only & dinner reservations are highly recommended.
SUBWAY – MULTIPLE LOCATIONS – HOLLYWOOD, FL:
I’m sure you’re familiar with the sandwich shop, Subway. I wouldn’t usually include such a “common” restaurant in a blog post, however the Subways in this area were special. When Lorenzo & I get Subway sandwiches in our hometown of Jacksonville, we are limited to just veggies & some of the dressings as our sandwich fillings. The locations in South Florida, however, currently offer two vegan meat options. These options include a black bean patty as well as a Malibu garden patty. I have learned that these are “trial” options. If they do well in the major cities they are currently offered in, they will be brought to other cities. Fingers crossed ALL Subways will soon offer these vegan meats & more!
SUBLIME RESTAURANT & BAR – FT. LAUDERDALE, FL:
Out of all of the places on our South Florida trip, the place I looked forward to going to the most was Sublime. I went to Sublime as part of my bachelorette trip in the Summer of 2015, & I have been looking forward to going back ever since. Lorenzo & I actually decided to go to Sublime for our evening date on Valentine’s Day. Sublime has beautiful waterfall features & had the romantic vibe that you want to feel on a nice dinner date. Sublime is 100% vegan & has won many awards in both vegan & broad categories. Sublime is one of those restaurants where the menu is so enticing, you HAVE to order wayyy more food than you could ever possibly eat in one sitting. The food is so good that you will want to rave about it after every individual bite. Our biggest regret of our South Florida trip is only going to Sublime once. We will NOT make that mistake again! The price range at Sublime is $30 & under. Parking is a private lot & dinner reservations are recommended but not required.
10/10 would recommend EVERY food listed / shown above!
