Please know that this blog post title is a pun on the Christmas song, “It’s The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year” & that I am well aware that “Most Busiest” is far from proper English! Anywho we’re less than a week out from Christmas & less than two weeks away from the start of a new year. These last few weeks of the year always seem to go by the fastest & that’s because they’re always jammed packed – busy busy!
I love Christmas & I love Christmas related fun. From potlucks to formal parties & all of the holiday shindigs in between – it’s such a great time! Last weekend Lorenzo & I hosted our 4th Annual Christmas Party + Children’s Toy Drive & it was an absolute blast. We host approx. 6-8 big parties a year & our Christmas Party is always my favorite! It’s definitely a lot of work though. From making a guest list, to coming up with a menu, making sure everyone has the necessary details, finding a great outfit, tons of shopping, lots of decorating, etc.
Also around this time of year most (if not all) of my friends who have moved away come back to visit & celebrate the holidays with friends & family. Since these friends are only in town a few weeks out of the year, I definitely try to take advantage of their time here & see them all as much as possible. That means never having a day or night off – something my introverted self isn’t used to. It can be hard to find the energy to go on, but I love these friends so much & I’m thrilled to spend time with them.
Christmas is insane. I celebrate the holiday with three separate groups of family. So it starts at one house, then moves to the next, then to the next. Then we also have a tradition that I call “Christmas number two”, which is basically a repeat of Christmas (minus the presents) the day after Christmas. No rest for my favorite holiday of the year! … While this post is about the busy-ness that is mid December to Jan 1st, I WILL say that I DID manage to do ALL of this years Christmas shopping online & that saved so much time!
Even my mind is extra busy around these last few weeks of the year. I try my best to live in the moment, but I can’t help but look forward to the new year – a new start. I start thinking of all of the things I want to accomplish next year. Some are little “nothing’s”, while others may/will be the biggest parts of my life. I swear my brain is going a mile a min thinking of all of the moves I want to make, already planning vacations I want to take, etc. Like yo brain, chill out!
Some of this post may sound like I’m bitching, & I am a little bit. I am so busy that I’m tired & I would love to have a day to just chill & do literally nothing, except eat & cuddles my babes. But this “most busiest time of the year” IS also the most wonderful time of the year. It’s filled with amazing people & amazing times that I wouldn’t trade for the world!
