Summer is officially here! Despite summers in Florida being quite high in temps, sometimes overwhelmingly hot, it’s still my favorite season. I love beach visits, days in the pool, vegan BBQ’s, vacations, annual events, & a fresh summer wardrobe! This summer, I’m really loving neons & today I’m sharing some of my favorite neon pieces.
Every five or so weeks, I like to keep my contacts out for a few days & opt for glasses instead. I do this to give my eyeballs a bit of a break. My eyes really do feel a lot better sans contacts, but I’m never totally comfortable in glasses. Not only is it hard to get used to having frames in my peripheral vision, lights glaring in the lenses, turning my entire head as opposed to just my eyes, etc but I also just never feel totally comfortable look-wise in my glasses. That’s kind of funny because at one point I longed for glasses, among other uncommon things to long for.
A little over a wk ago, I celebrated one year smoke free. That evening I had a little shindig that I called, “Kara’s Favorite Things 1 Year No Smoking Anniversary Celebration” (quite the mouthful, I see, lol). Anywho since cigarettes USED to be one of my favorite things, but no longer are, I had a party with some of my current favorite things. I invited all of my favorite people, served all of my favorite foods & drinks, had décor in all of my favorite patterns, & we played one of my favorite games. On my invites I requested that everyone wear their favorite color. My favorite color is green, & I was surprised to learn that about 50% of my party guest feel the same. I truly love all shades of green, but my favorites are; mint, kelly green, & emerald. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite finds in my favorite shades of green.
We will start with MINT. I honestly don’t own many mint fashion pieces myself. As you know, I’m quite fair skinned, so I tend to stick to brighter &/or deeper colors that are more complimentary to my skin tone. Nonetheless, I still find mint to be an absolutely beautiful shade of green. One of my favorite nail polishes of all time is Wet-N-Wild’s “I Need A Refresh-Mint” & if I ever have a human child, I love the idea of mint-colored walls for their bedroom, regardless of gender.
For the longest time, starting in middle school my fashion motto was, “Style before comfort”. Just as it reads, if it was a great outfit look-wise, that’s all that mattered, regardless of how freakishly uncomfortable it may have been to wear. That covered everything from; heavy-ass earrings, to bodysuits so tight breathing was literally compromised, to 7″ blister & pain resulting stilettos, & every uncomfortable article of clothing in between. Lately, however, my motto has changed. Not to the exact opposite of “Comfort Before Style” [notice the meaningful question mark in this blog post title], but to the “Try to be both stylish & comfortable, but if you have to lean one way or the other, comfort is almost for sure going to win, excluding special event outfits”. That fashion motto has quite the ring to it, doesn’t it!?
