My Black Eye + Pop Your Pup Instagram Contest

My Black Eye + Pop Your Pup Instagram Contest

Happy Thursday everyone! Today I want to share a little story on why I look like I have a black eye in some of these photos as well as to tell you about a contest that’s happening on my Instagram page right now.

My contacts & eyeballs easily dry out from any moving air. That results in many-a-tear falling from my eye. The car’s air conditioning/heat almost always causes this to happen & so I often end up arriving at my destination with eyeliner everywhere on my face except for where it belongs. Since I almost always have to re-do my eyeliner upon arrival anyways, I’ve recently decided to forgo doing it at all before then. It’s been working out great. So a couple of days ago when we arrived at the location to shoot these photos, I sat in the car for a few mins to apply my eyeliner & then I was on my way. As we were walking from the car, the freezing ass powerful ass wind started blowing. I literally said to my husband, “Well I’m pretty sure I just cried off all of my eyeliner anyways”. He looks at me, doesn’t notice/says nothing. And thirty seconds later we begin shooting.

The wind picking up was a sign of the weather to come, apparently. The sky got cloudy, the temperature started to drop, & next thing I knew it was raining. I was out of the rain, but the lighting was now complete shit. We were already there, so we continued shooting anyways. We shot a lot more photos than usual trying to catch a few seconds of frames in between the clouds. I felt we had shot enough so I looked through the photos to make sure that we didn’t miss anything. The first thing I noticed was a huge smear of eyeliner under my left eye. I continued looking through photos. Yep there it was, & there, & there. I thought, “OMG has this shit been on my face the entire time!?” I skipped to the very first photo we took & sure enough black shit all over my face. Cue immense frustration, anger, an insane urge to take up smoking again, thoughts of divorce, because obv this was ALL Lorenzo’s fault, etc. Blah blah blah … I eventually forgave him & we decided to go back to the location (oh yeah I left in a fury) to shoot more images sans smeared eyeliner. At this point it was even darker, windier, rainier, shittier, so we didn’t get many additional photos.

I’m not a Photoshop wizard, in fact I don’t even have Photoshop. I do have a couple of phone apps that I do some stuff with. I did what I could to rid my face of the ridiculous black smudge, but it’s definitely still there a little bit. I could scrap the whole day & just shoot this look at a later time, but no. Fuck that. So folks, I present the photos in this post, black eye & all. I mean this is real life-ish, right, so ta-dah! Lesson learned? Always carry a mirror & never forget that I didn’t marry Lorenzo for his exceptional senses (hearing/vision/common), I married him for his ability to cook, handsome face, & nice tuchus, duh.
